Course Description

Periodontitis is a multifaceted inflammatory disease. Early detection—prior to bone destruction—can allow for reversible outcomes and retention of natural dentition. However, management is often challenging due to systemic and anatomical risk factors, which can complicate both diagnosis and treatment. Effective patient education is essential to address underlying etiologies and prevent recurrence, especially when planning restorative or implant therapies.

This 1-hour course aims to equip general dentists with practical knowledge and clinical decision-making skills to optimize periodontal health and treatment outcomes for their patients.

  • Recognize the importance of both non-surgical and surgical periodontal therapies
  • Identify key anatomical factors contributing to periodontitis and strategies for their management
  • Distinguish between resective and regenerative approaches in periodontal therapy

Meet the Instructor

Dr. Hardev M. Singh, DMD, MS

Dr. Hardev M. Singh earned his dental degree from the University of Pittsburgh, School of Dental Medicine, where he was awarded the prestigious Health Professional Scholarship Program (HPSP) from the United States Army. As a commissioned dental officer, Dr. Singh received several honors, including the Army Service Ribbon, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, and the Army Commendation Medal.

Following his military service, Dr. Singh served as an Associate Professor at Western University, focusing on complex exodontia and pre-prosthetic surgery. Concurrently, he managed a private dental practice, but his commitment to professional growth led him to pursue advanced training in periodontics at Loma Linda University. There, he graduated as chief resident, receiving mentorship from internationally recognized clinicians. Dr. Singh continues to serve as adjunct faculty at Western University and collaborates on numerous publications.
